Sorry late post. First I was reading some of the comments and was actually surprised from many of the negative reviews. Especially one saying that they were racists towards Asians. I'm Asian, my wife is Asian and well hat makes my kids Asian. My family has been coming to this establishment for over 10 years and we have NEVER experienced any kind of racism nor seen it done to others, but discrediting the one person who posted that.
So anyways, my wife and I woke up last Saturday morning which was January 27th, and I looked at her and said Burs?! and she excitedly jumped out the bed and got ready without a word. We are foodies and after all these years we decided to start review the restaurants we visit!
It was packed that morning but were able to find one of the last open booths that sat right in front of the cash register. We were greeted right away and given our menus and was told who our waitress was and was given water and asked if we wanted coffee in which we did, I'm form NY so of course I did! The coffee is perfect for my liking a bit strong to many but perfect for me, I've had really strong coffee in the Army, lol!
Not to long after our waitress showed up and took our order. Both my wife and I ordered the Lobster omelet, which is one of our favorites! I went with the side of home fries and she went with the side of hash browns. We also asked for a side of SOS sauce which is really tasty there! The meal also came with 2 humungous pancakes!
While waiting my wife and I was commenting on the atmosphere that morning it was busy and lively, people were smiling and enjoying each others company. Which put us in a really good mood!
Our food came out in a good time and it looked delicious! The lobster meat omelet came with a type of yellow thick hollandaise sauce. my home fries were just how I like them fried and a little crispy with a nice dark golden brown look. The pancakes were large and fluffy, I'm not really a pancake eater, but more of a waffle guy because I like the crispiness of the waffle, but Burs pancakes I will eat!
We were asked and given a total of 2 refills after the initial cup off coffee is about right with the amount of time we were there. Everything was cooked they way I liked it and they have always did. Between my wife and I, we need 1 to go box. I didn't finish my omelet and my wife a little of everything.
They brought us the bill when they brought us our box and took the payment from us from the booth, normally I would just walk up to the cash register and pay.
Our visits there has always been good, which Is why I am surprised by a lot of the negative reviews!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 4, 2024Updated review2 check-ins
Came here for a brunch. Parking lot full...this place seems to be pretty packed during breakfast/brunch times.
Service was great. Food is mediocre. The home fries were hard.
I do like coming here because it just seems like an old school place with with a relaxed ambiance, some homemade items, but food can be hit or miss.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 26, 2021Previous reviewThis place has been here a long time. I recently started coming here because it is close by and always seems to be pretty busy. I have had breakfast most of my visits but this time decided to try something from their dinner menu. Went with the beef steak with mashed taters and veggies. It came with a salad and roll. It was just okay...gravy and potatoes tasted packaged and not scratch. Vegetables were frozen mixed veggies.
Service was a little slow. One of my friends was obviously irritated by this and felt the need to bring it to our waitress's attention. Soon after that our food was brought out.
They need better coffee for sure, prices are a little high especially if they're not cooking from scratch. Not sure why they are always busy...it is not the best, but still an okay place--maybe more so because it has a comfortable feel to it. - Doug L.Tacoma, WA01Mar 10, 2024
so much drama. Used to be a happy fun place to be. Now you can't even sit
in the bar without being trashed or accused of something you don't even know abou. If once ok but over and over again who needs it. It's simply about money now, the personality there is gone. half the servers there are wonderful the other half are a pain to be around. After 15 years I'm out. I want a good experience when I go out. Not here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 05128Feb 13, 2024

We were a party of 5 for dine in. The waiter immdediately scolded us saying that we needed to have called in to make a reservation. They seated us in the back room, and after 30 minutes of waiting, we still had not been seen by a waiter. No water or menus. There was many times the waiters were standing around and could have waited on us. Went to ask the waitress if we could get some service and were told they would get to us as soon as they could. Left with no service. VERY disappointed with our experience.

A group of us (anywhere from 4 to 8 people) have breakfast at Bur's every Friday morning, and it's always great! We love all the choices, though many of us have a "regular" order.
The best part of our Friday breakfast is the service we get from Kisenia. She is a terrific waitress--friendly and efficient. Lots of smiles, and she remembers our "usuals." Our grandson calls her an angel!
This is a landmark restaurant in Lakewood (I remember having dinner here as a kid, in the 1960's.) and the owners have done a good job of preserving its local diner feel. If you want to support a unique, non-chain family restaurant, Bur's is the place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 19714292196Jun 26, 2023
I liked this place for breakfast. It definitely was an old school diner. I had a California scramble. It was a decent portion. It had avocados and spinach and bacon. It was basically bacon bits in the scramble, I would have preferred actual pieces of bacon. Service was efficient and friendly. Overall, a decent breakfast spot.

Food and Service. The place wasn't busy. Waited for about 10-15 minutes for the server. Asked to take the food order without asking us for any drinks. Burger and deep fried prawns + pop and 1 beer = $51 BEFORE tip. The burger was over cooked. Fries were good.

I just like it. Never a problem. Great biscuits and gravy but would be nice to have some options for diabetic needs.
